You’re finally ready to pack your hospital bag! So where to start? Here are a few suggestions, but remember you’re partner will likely be carrying all the bags when you arrive in active labor, so don’t go overboard!
Photo id, insurance info, hospital forms
Cord blood info
Labor clothes. You’re welcome to wear whatever you want so if wearing a hospital gown doesn’t sound right for you, bring an oversized tshirt, a sports bra or your own robe (that you don’t mind getting messy in)
A favorite pillow or blanket can give you some comfort while away from home
Cell phone charger
Chapstick and moisturizing lotion – hospitals can be very dry
Eyeglasses (if you wear contacts)
Snacks that don’t smell! Bagels, granola bars, nuts, etc.
Breath mints (need I say more…)
Drinks! Staying hydrated is super important. Coconut water, water, Gatorade, juice etc.
Maternity clothes to wear home
“Coming home” outfit for baby
Slippers or warm socks
Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, face wash, contact solution). Some people enjoy bringing their favorite soap or favorite smelling shampoo/conditioner
